Apr 26, 2023 | Case Study | 0 comments

Adaptus Design System Sdn. Bhd. is the communication and design subsidiary of GDP Architects, a Malaysian architecture and design practice established in 1990. Both Adaptus and GDP Labs, were formed to primarily provide architectural support services with the latest printing and modelling technologies – where architects and designers are able to experiment with various materials and design prototypes.

” Team IME has been  a collaborative and competent partner, where prompt and profeesional support is always provided to us. It is crucial for us to have a technology partner whom can grow with us on in this journey and be our backup when we need support.”

Ahmad Johari
Director, Adaptus Design System Sdn. Bhd.

REALISTIC PROTOTYPES IN A SHORTER LEAD TIME

The presentation of architectural models is crucial part of the design process prior commencement of any project. Traditionally, it can take up to 4 weeks to produce an architecture model. When driven bya customer – centric strategy and desire to increase its competitive advantage, a 3D printer can reduce the lead time of producing a realistic prototype to 1 week. This shortens the turnaround  time which allows  the designers to cater to more projects and proposals.

CHALLENGES:

  • Lack of support for the other 3D Printer
  • Long lead time to produce prototypes and models

DESIGN WITHOUT LIMITS

Coupled with CAD and 3D Printer capabilities, Architects have the freedom and flexibillty to modify the design on screen and print iterations of the designs before presenting to their clients. The multi-colour and multi material also means that models can be more realistic and vivid, creating and impactful presentation. The soluble material also makes it possible to produce models in greater detail with ease.

SOLUTIONS

  • Work with local partner for prompt support and services
  • Implementation of multi-colour and multi-material printer to simplify production process

EMBRACING TECHNOLOGY

Adaptus Design System has always been at the forefront of the design industry, investing in the latest and most advanced technologies. The right technology partner plays an important role in selecting the best technology and solutions to adopt. The cost of investment will never outweight the benefit it brings – apart from shorter lead time and greater competitive advantage, it allows architects to be creative and innovative in their design without limitations.

BENEFITS:

  • Reduce lead time by 80%, improve competitive advantage
  • Great level of detail and high accuracy models
  • Improve efficiency and allows remote monitoring of printing progress
